He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Sowell and Erma Wear Sowell; his son Michael David Sowell; and his granddaughter Jillian "JJ" Hogan. He is survived by: his wife Doris Barber; his children, Daniel Sowell (Cheryl) of Quincy, Cindy Ussery, Scott Hogan of Canton, MO, Kelly Hogan of Quincy and Crystal Sowell of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Dylan Sowell, Collin, Caleb Altgilbers (Hayley), Alaina Ussery and Darion Hogan; his great grandchildren, Luci and Jensen Altgilbers; and his sisters, Mary Austin of Quincy and Auga Glore.
