Loren Faeth wrote a sympathy message

“Dave was very excited in High school to join the Navy early. He spent the summer before our senior year at boot camp and sea duty. After graduation, he returned to the navy, again with excitement to go to sea. His last billet was a bad one. I was looking forward to seeing Dave at our upcoming class reunion, Dave was the hardest working kid in high school. Mowing, newspaper, and cleaning offices and stores left him little free time. I worked a lot, but Dave worked harder.”
