James E. Schmidt Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James E. Schmidt of Quincy, Illinois, who passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmidt and Bertha Schmidt (Garthaus); his son Robert Schmidt; and his daughter-in-law Jan Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, Richard Schmidt (Barb) of Quincy, Karen Watters (Rob) of Quincy and Sharon Humphrey (Fred) of Clayton, IL; and his grandchildren, Mikki Morris (Keith) of Westchester, PA, Nicole Kuhlman of Quincy, Lacey Hullinger (Adam) of Frankfort, IL, Ryan Schmidt (Kayla) of Clayton, IL, Katie Kline of Quincy, Stacy Roberts (Ryan) of Quincy, James Hopkins of Norfolk, VA and Justin Hopkins (Mary) of St. Peters, MO. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home (1435 State St, Quincy, IL 62301). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
