He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Schmidt and Clara Tittsworth Schmidt; and his siblings, Frank A. Schmidt, Gerald Schmidt, Barbara Lee Schmidt and Carrie Emma Schmalshof Askew.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia L. Clark; his daughter Debra Kay Muntz (Lee) of Fairfield, IA; his granddaughters, Jenifer Roe of Fairfield, IA and Kristen Nicholson (Cody) of Batavia, IA; his great grandchildren, A. J. Roe of Fairfield, IA, Katie VanTassel (Trae) of Libertyville, IA, Mila, Emmitt and Claria Nicholson of Batavia, IA; and his great great grandchild Berkleigh VanTassel of Libertyville, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
