He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Jerome and Lola Bier (Wade); his nephews, Herbert W. Rodgers and Michael E. Rodgers; his brother-in-law Herbert J. Rodgers; and his grandparents, Bertha, Edward Bier, Roy and Lela Allen.

He is survived by: his son Brandon Bier of Florida; his siblings, Pamela Westbrook (Michael) of Hannibal, MO, Debora Rabe (Michael) of Ursa, IL and Roy Heck of Litchfield, IL; and his caregiver Patricia Cane (Dan). He is also survived by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
