She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Gravitt and Dora Gravitt (Gordy); her husband Gerald Henry William Schaffer; her son Gerald Bradley Schaffer; her brothers, Albert "Red" Gravitt and Leroy Pollock; and her granddaughter-in-law Kasey Hess.

She is survived by: her children, Pam Hess (Ed) of Palmyra, MO, Terri Arnsman of Quincy, IL and Windi Damon (Joe) of Quincy, IL; her siblings, Marvin Gravitt (Tammy), George "Butch" Gravitt (Nancy) and Marsha Hamilton of Quincy, IL; her grandchildren, Zackery Hess (Alana), Emily Hess (Bill), Mackenzy Hess, Chloe Arnsman (Andrew), Taylor Arnsman and Dani Hudson (Brad); and her great grandchildren, Axel, Briggs, Rossi, Addie, Aubrey, Eddison, Hazel, Zane, Zip, Hesston, Lyle and Zayla.
