She was predeceased by: her parents, W. Earl Abbott and Erma E. Abbott (Haxel); her husband Russ; her daughter-in-law Pamela Merkel; her great grandchild Jackson Lewis; her stepgranddaughter Kimberly Smith; her siblings, William (Beatrice), Kenneth Abbott (Bernice), Mary Goessling (Marvin) and Joann Reynolds (Jerry); and her brother-in-law John E. Merkel.
She is survived by: her children, Russell "Rusty" Merkel (Penny Kipley) of Pagosa Springs, CO, Mary Rollins (Larry) of Friendswood, TX and Salli Kuncewicz (Scott) of Quincy; her grandchildren, Shelly Lewis (Chris), Daniel Merkel, Ryan Schnack (Michelle), Christopher Schnack (Maegil), Natalie and Lance Rollins (Emily); her stepgranddaughters, Michelle Atteberry (Scott) and Deanna Leffers; and her sister-in-law Sue Merkel. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
