He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Smith and Edna Smith (Eickhorn). He is survived by: his wife Lynda L. Barton; and his children, Julie Jackman (Joe) of Aurora, IL and Brian Smith (Angela) of St. Louis, MO.. He is also survived by Nieces, nephews, one sister, and brother.

Memorials are suggested to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.
