He was predeceased by: his parents, George Slater and Lillian Niehaus Slater; his wife Helen Marie Sefton; his daughter-in-law Debbie Slater; his grandson Todd Slater; and his siblings, George Slater, Katherine Griffin, Margaret Gower, Hazel Hertzler, Irene Donhardt and Lola Lakey.
He is survived by: his sons, Larry Slater of Quincy and Bill Slater (Cathy) of Quincy; his grandchildren, Paul Slater (Lydia Miller) of Quincy and Kelly Rosendahl (Aaron) of Bloomington, IL; and his great grandchildren, Ella, Bennett Slater, Parker Sue Rosendahl, Malena and Brantley Miller.
