With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Donald Held of Ransom, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin C. Held and Esther Held (Geheber); his wife Sylvia A. Berta; and his brother Glenn. He is survived by: his children, Julie Navejar of Kingsville, TX, Kathy Armstrong (Tim) of Ransom, David Held of Ransom and Karla Held (Krista Ridder) of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Ashley Martinez-King (Michael), Matthew, Ryan Armstrong, Jonathan Soucie and Ian Seger-Held; his great grandchildren, Katie Soucie and Michael Ray King; and his sister Joyce Riss. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home (205 High St, Streator, IL 61364). A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 at the Allen Township Cemetery (1557-1555 W 26th Rd, Ransom, IL 60470).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ransom United Methodist Church.
