Charles Joseph Wargel Obituary
We announce the death of Charles Joseph Wargel (Ridgway, Illinois), who passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 90. Charles will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph H. Wargel and Rose Abell Wargel; his wife Mary Beth; his children, Joseph and Nina; his sister Jean Wargel; and his in-laws, Daniel and Margaret Maloney.
He is survived by: his friends, Clete and Joan Mueth; his children, Helen Wargel, Thomas Wargel (Claudine), Teresa Boulds (Brady) and Katie Anderson (Michael); his brother Robert E. Wargel; his grandchildren, Andrew Scheppe, Karalyn Scheppe, Kathleen Scheppe (Anshika), Landon Wargel, Kinser Wargel, Logan Boulds (Sara), Noah Boulds and Ely Boulds; his great grandchildren, Moxley and Hazel Boulds; his caregivers, Renee Gotkin, Amy Cox and Tena Thorne; Kelly and Doug Schimp. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 3:45 PM to 7:00 PM and at 7:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home (209 S Jarrell St, Ridgway, IL 62979). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Kateri Church (220 S Combs St, Ridgway, IL 62979). A burial was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Kateri Church or St. Patrick's Cemetery.
