With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of LaVerne Peterson of Rio, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 8, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Peterson and Myrtle Peterson (Johnson); his wife Marilyn Spivey; and his siblings, Gladys Carlson, Ione Shike and Harry Peterson.

He is survived by: his children, Gerry Peterson (Sharon), Karna Peterson and Dwight Peterson (Maureen); his granddaughters, Jennifer Peterson, Erin Banty (Karl), Brittany Kortis (Nick), Morgan Ieronimo (Alex) and Jessica Dereli (Dev); his great grandchildren, Lorelei, Scarlett Banty, Claire, Henry, Peter Kortis and Eliza Ieronimo; his brother Harvey Peterson; and his grandchildren, Kourtnie Korstick (Logan), Kolton and Kynleigh Fox.

Memorial contributions may be left to the Tri-County Ambulance Service or the Knox County Nursing Home.
