“Jim, it’s Carol Zeman-Bernier. I am so very sorry to read of Elaine’s passing. In the spring of 1949, the year we moved to Riverside, I looked out our window and saw a young girl. I kept telling her to not go away because I had to put on my shoes to go out. She was the very first friend I had on our block. I know she didn’t have an easy life but she was a good soul. I remember she could play the piano so beautifully. I also know how much you will miss her. My deepest condolences for her loss.”
