He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Schmidt and Ruth Kuhn Schmidt; and his brother Jim Schmidt. He is survived by: his daughters, Sheri Scanlan (Marty) of Springfield, IL and Chris Sabin (Greg) of Dawson, IL; his grandchildren, Tyler Scanlan (Kerby), Connor Scanlan and Makanna Sabin; his great grandchild Tiger Scanlan; his sisters, Claudia Oller (Gary) of Tower Hill, IL and Rosemary Stretch of Shelbyville, IL; and his sister-in-law Nancy Schmidt of Quincy, IL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
