He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Wagner and Ruth Wagner (Blish); his in-laws, Frank and Agatha Knaak; his grandsons, Mark and Alexander O'Brien; his son-in-law Erik Gilbert; and his brother-in-law James Knaak.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Wagner; his daughters, Debbie O'Brien (Vince), Dede Ponto (Tim) and Wendy Gilbert (Eric Gruben); his grandchildren, Kiley, Kelsey O'Brien, Mallory Ponto, Lauren Ponto, Taylor Ponto (Bryce Whitehead) and Alex Gilbert; his sister Sherri Baumann (Richard); and his brother-in-law Jerry Knaak (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home (400 N 6th St, Rochelle, IL 61068). A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
