He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Herrmann and Martha Herrmann (Sauter); his former wife Jan; his granddaughter Cora Higgs; his son-in-law Christopher Blevins; and his siblings, Kenny, Arvene, Vince, Lillian Larson and Mary Munn.

He is survived by: his wife Joannie Ahlensdorf (Caspers) of Rochelle; his children, Brian Herrmann (Sheila) of Steward, IL, Sheila Berg of Rochelle, Evie Musselman (Denny) of Dixon, IL, Deana Blevins of Shelley, ID and Shawn Higgs (Dave) of Richmond, IL; his stepsons, Dustin Ahlensdorf (Sheila) of St. Germain, WI and Shad Ahlensdorf of Rockford, IL; his sisters, Helen Finnestad (Mick) of Rochelle, Ruth Wixom (George) of Mendota, IL and Donna Waters (Bob) of Steward, IL; his sisters-in-law, Pat Casey of Rochelle and Marjorie Casey of Davis Junction, IL; his grandchildren, Joseph Herrmann (Sarah), Lance Herrmann (Lindsey), Elora, Garrett Berg, Cole Hedrick (Brenna), Elyse Fisher (Dylan), Isaac Musselman (Tara), Cheyane Merz (Devon), Sierra Rutten (Matthew), Brynn Barnett (Cole), Hunter Blevins (Taralyn), Gavin, Jackson and Grace Higgs; his stepgrandchildren, Alyse and Braden Ahlensdorf; and his great grandchildren, Haleigh, Zachary, Landon, Kimber, Kendra, Leo, Axel, Wyatt, Oakley, Colton, Lucy, Luke, Rin, Clara, Bria, Barrett, Ryder, Eileene, Aspynn and Myra. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Dean's memory to Serenity Hospice and Home, who the family would like to thank for all their care and support during the last couple months.
