In loving memory of David Gene Books of Rochester, Illinois, who departed this world on October 6, 2025 at the age of 85. David leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Fredrick Books and Anna Books (Tilinski); his granddaughter Gabriella; and his brother Larry Books. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Scribner of Rochester; his sons, David "Bryan" Books (Holly) of Austin, TX, Derek "Shawn" Books (Nikki) of Taylorville, IL and Eric Jason; his grandchildren, Emily Garner (Chad), Adam, Courtney, Nathan, Ashley and Mackenzie Books; his great grandchildren, Lorielei and Lainey; and his sister-in-law Cheryl Books.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (2750 E Sangamon Ave, Springfield, IL 62702). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery (1441 Monument Ave, Springfield, IL 62702).
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
