He is survived by : his sister Rose Giesfeldt (Jack); his sister-in-law Jan Tomczak (John); his nieces and nephews, Wendy Breit (Jody), Michelle Miller (Roger), Jennifer Tucker (Michael), Teri Giesfeldt, Marcy Lenox (Scott), PJ Giesfeldt and Cory Kendall (Julie); and his cousin Suzy (Dante Perino).

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Rock Falls High School Athletic Department.

“Mike, I have loved spending time with you these last 5 years. We always had fun and could make each other laugh. I will miss our trips to Save A Lot, getting your hair cut, making you chili or spaghetti, listening to you watch the White Sox or game shows, and you sitting on your porch, waiting for me to show up. I hope you are at peace now and resting in the arms of your loved ones. Keep an eye on those Rockets and if you have any pull up there, use it! I will miss you. Tara”
