We are sad to announce that, on March 21, 2024, at the age of 80, John P. Thompson of Rock Island, Illinois, born in Dubuque, Iowa passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John P. Thompson to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Thompson and Katherine Thompson (Flynn); and his in-laws, Ray, Gertrude Wittstock, Duane Massey and Robert Meyer.

He is survived by: his wife Sally Wittstock of Dubuque; his children, Cynthia Schmitt (Paul), Wendy Thompson of Ankeny, IA and James Thompson (Andrea); his grandchildren, Tommy, Patrick, Ryan Schmitt, Nicholas, Caroline Trout, Joseph and Luke Thompson; his siblings, Mary Massey Meyer, Eleanor Freiburger (Don) and Rev. Philip Thompson (Dubuque); and his sister-in-law Diane Wittstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Seton Catholic School, Jordan Catholic School, or Alleman Catholic High School.
