She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Sr. Coats and Carrie Lee Coats (Parish); her siblings, Willie Taylor, Edward Coats, Velma Hudson and Rashun Coats; and her stepmother Betty Coats.
She is survived by: her husband Hal Brooks; her children, Tyrone Coats, Willie Orr (Melody), Charlotte Biage (Robert) and Kewanda; and her siblings, Lee Ella Westerfield (Micheal), Alma Westerfield, Albert Jr. Coats (Lori) of Davenport, Bobby Coats and Anthony Gavin of Michigan City, Indiana. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.
