It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew C. Masem of Rock Island, Illinois, who passed away on March 11, 2023, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Mathias C. Masem and Magdalena Masem (Rainer); his wife Nancy Sammartano; his brothers, Joseph and Harold; and his great great grandchild Jamilah Amena.
He is survived by: his daughters, Madalene Masem and Barbara Lee; his grandchildren, Tina Thomas (Dave), Jason Cook (Brea), Julie Elliott (Chad), Kristina Cook and Kari Gardner (Gary); and his great grandchildren, Ava, Cooper Thomas, Jaden, Jillian Kyle, Adrianna Troche (Marissa) and Michael Puig.
Memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or US Department of Veterans Affairs.
