He was predeceased by : his parents, Dale Rankin and Helen Rankin (Hamm); his daughter Tamala; and his siblings, Richard Rankin (Marsha) and Jane Kuehn.

He is survived by : his wife Sandra Jones; his daughters, Melissa Hayward and Angela Beckner (Chris); his stepchildren, Theresa Jones (Gale) and Christopher Jones (Tamela); and his sister Sherry Chaney. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers any memorial may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
