It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Martin Chaney of Rock Island, Illinois, born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, who passed away on February 5, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Horace Chaney and Georgie Chaney; his wife Marchand Chaney; and his brother Dutch Chaney. He is survived by : his daughters, Deedra Chaney and Danya Richardson (Terry); his granddaughters, Chelsea Charles (Brian) and Jesse Bry (Dylan); his great grandchildren, Spencer, Miles, Roscoe and Lois; and his siblings, Betty Lamphere, Ed Chaney, Louise Berg and Bill Chaney.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor, Rock Island or Hospice Compassus.

“I was a friend of the Chaneys, Bob and Marchand from when I was in college and house sat during their extended visits to Akumal. They were kind and great fun to be around. They also presented a great model of how to live. I have never forgotten them and wish I had had the opportunity to say goodbye.”
