He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Wheatley and Sallie Wheatley (Long); and his children, Reggie, Donald, Laura and Alma.

He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Thomas Wheatley (Kathy), Artis Bitterman (David), Crystal Kitterman (Randy), Tomi Coronado (Robert) and Jamie Pate; his son-in-law Simon Milton; and his sisters, Shirley, Ernie and Glenda. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
