She is survived by: her children, Alvin Brown Jr. (Pamela), James Brown (Christine Williams), Paul Brown (Lizzie Mackey), Joyce Smith, Caroline Brown, Patricia Brown, Natalie Bey and Gloria Sockwell (Herdis); her sister Mary Jean Jones; and her close friend Joe Lewis Graham. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren.
