She was predeceased by: her parents, William Green and Lena Green Chambers (Matthews); her sisters, Bessie Schwartz, Esther Cross, Mamie "Goody" McKinney, Sharon Crenshaw and Elsa Green; her husband Cornelius Whittington; her children, Russell Whittington and Linda Whittington; her daughter-in-law Barb Whittington; and her grandchildren, Holly Whittington and Brandon Whittington.

She is survived by: her sons, Eddie (Patricia) of Cherry Valley, IL, Ron (Ginny) of Rockford and Mitch (Karen) of Rockford; her grandchildren, Chad Gelafio (Tami), Amanda Whittington, Owen Whittington (Briana) and Anna Spurlock (Jeff); her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Whittington, Olivia Whittington, Aubrey Whittington, Savannah Johnson, Marianna Spurlock, Laura Dawson, Aryanna Thompson and Alesandra Gelafio; her great great grandchild Ryder Thompson; and her sisters, Sue Singh of Rockford and Margaret Doughty of West Virginia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
