He was predeceased by: his parents, Emilio Opengo and Angeline Opengo (Polletto); his children-in-law, Kim Payton and Bernie Bandoli; his grandson Andrew Warren; and his sister Rose Wallen (Junior).
He is survived by: his children, Joseph, Cindy (Mike), Anthony Jr., Debbie, Penny (Gus), Jeffrey, Larry (Lori), Janet (John), Richard, Pamela (Brenden) and Krisie (Scott). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Cathedral of St. Peter (1243 N Church St, Rockford, IL 61103). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Scandinavian Cemetery (1700 Rural St, Rockford, IL 61107).
