He is survived by: his children, Diana Cole, Ebony Ruffin (Marlana Barnes), Terrence Ruffin and Sir Charles Townsend; his close friend Sylvia Ingram; his stepdaughters, Janetka Ingram (Patrick Brooks), Carrell Hoover (Jewel) and Cilia Purifoy; his siblings, Peggy Townsend, Shirleeta Ruffin, Sharon Townsend, Rosalyn Townsend, William and Terrence Townsend; and his goddaughter Mariah Neal. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
