He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Sr. O'Brien and Joyce Bessel O'Brien (Fitzpatrick); his nephew Donald James Alf; and his grandparents, Clark, Mary O'Brien, Victor and Doloras Hummel.

He is survived by: his son Chris O'Brien; and his siblings, Robin Simplot, Angel Bauman (Jessie) and Tommy O'Brien (Debbie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many additional family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the sister, Robin Simplot.
