He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Thompson and Helen Thompson (Luscombe); his wife Jeanine Thompson (Jepson); his siblings, Marion Isom, Merrill Thompson and Dan Thompson; his nephew Billy Thompson; and his grandson Richie Salmon.
He is survived by: his children, Paul Thompson (Marie) and Pam Salmon (Mike); his grandchildren, Sabrina Thompson, Betsy Armington (Zac), Alex Salmon (Alexandra Layne), Jesse Salmon (Cheyanne) and Emily Severino (John); his great grandchildren, Talen, Jasper, Linkin and Boden; and his siblings, Orville Thompson, Tim Thompson (Gail), Evelyn Rose, Betty Towne and Thelma Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed in Don's name to the Ingemann Danish Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Iowa.
