She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Folz and Madeline Folz; her husband Gil; her son-in-law Paul Goethe; and her siblings, Edna and Robert.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Goethe (Paul), Terri Grierson (Dave), Marie Wallen (John), Gil Spahn (Jenny), Jane Benson (Eric), Greg Spahn (Laurel), Steve Spahn (Karen) and Linda Stolze (JW). She is also survived by eight children, seventeen grandchildren, and sixteen great‑grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church (428 N 2nd St, Rockford, IL 61107). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A procession will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the Calvary Cemetery (8616 W State Rd, Winnebago, IL 61088).
She also served as the communication hub for her extended family and fiercely advocated for her sister Edna's right to die with dignity from Alzheimer's disease, taking the case to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the early 1990s.
