It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Etta Pearl Brown of Rockford, Illinois, who passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie Sr. Cross-Toney and Savannah Cross-Toney; her siblings, Queen Ester Clark, Beadie Toney, V. Ester Brown, Alice Marie Toney, Leslie Jr., Jack, Brad and Sylvester Toney; her son LaVern; her daughter-in-law Lois Tidwell-Brown; and her daughter Loretta Greer.
She is survived by: her husband Verner C. Brown; her daughter Bernadette Coleman; her granddaughter Destiny Coleman; her sister Rodell Marshall; and her nieces and nephews, Cedric Brown, Drextel Clark, Sallie Tidwell and Patricia Seals. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
