He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Callis and Madeline James (Maxwell); his son Joshua Callis; and his sister Carolyn Roccaforte (Sam). He is survived by: his son Cary Callis (Tiffany) of Rockford; his grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, Kristin and Morgan; his brother Butch James (Robbie) of Byron; his nephews, Gust James (Kathy), Brian Roccaforte and Robby Roccaforte; and his niece Becky Spiezer (Ethan).
