He was predeceased by: his sons, Joseph, Jerry and David Wahl; and his brother Robert Wahl. He is survived by: his wife Marge; his children, James Wahl (Kathy), Meredith Wahl, Michele Holsker and Julee Edson (Curt Leaich); and his sister Beverly (Bob).
