He was predeceased by: his parents, Manfred Howard and Ellen Marie Ekberg (Blomquist); his former wife Ruth Marie Bensen; his siblings, Florence Swanson (Manley), Gladys Brink (Ernest), Leroy (Irene), Reuben (Donna) and Raymond Ekberg (Elaine); and his granddaughter Hannah Grace Ekberg (Dean).

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Ellen Hollandsworth (Marvel); his son Dean Ekberg (Ronda); his grandsons, Isaac and Joshua Ekberg; his son Kurt Ekberg (Marci); his granddaughter Meagan Walsh (Dan); his great grandchildren, Winter, Meadow, Rhapsody, Arabesque, Quintana, Zephyr Walsh, Kyle Ekberg (Aleeza), Joel Ekberg (Krista), Seth Ekberg (Hillary), Lucy, Romy, Harris Ekberg, Mallory Christianson (Casey), Mabel, Meredith Randals (Tyler) and Jared Ekberg (Amy); his daughter Beth Fredrickson (Tim); his granddaughter Louisa Nickel (Stuart); his great grandchildren, Harvey, June, Ivy Nickel, Amy Lacy (Ryan), Lars, Flora, Soren Lacy and Calvin Fredrickson (Jillian); his son John Ekberg (Kirsten); his grandchildren, Rachel, Caitlin, Daniel and Matthew Ekberg; his sisters, Elsie Johnson (Bud), Violet Belkholm (Chester) and Millie Carlson (Darryl); his sister-in-law Dottie Rasche (Bob); and his stepchildren, Brad Hollandsworth (Jackie) and Rose Campbell (Stuart). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
