He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Johnson and Bernice Johnson (Peterson); his brother-in-law Chet Hagemann; and his nephew Kurt Hagemann. He is survived by: his wife Lou Ann; his daughter Jennifer Olson (Nolan); his grandson Xander Olson; and his siblings, Mavis Hagemann and Terry Johnson (Kay). He is also survived by nieces and cousins.
