He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Cottreau and Jean Cottreau; and his grandson Gavin Braaten. He is survived by: his daughters, Jo Anne Peterson of Rib Lake and Julia Braaten (Eric) of Rib Lake, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Kya Braaten, Wyatt and Rylee Peterson; and his siblings, Michael Cottreau, Tom Cottreau and Denise Welliver (Michael).
