He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Duerst and Hilda Duerst; and his siblings, Phyllis Foster, Gerald and Nathan Duerst.
He is survived by: his wife Karen; his stepdaughters, Kim Spease (Gregory) of Littleton, CO and Kelly Spinello (Guy); his grandchildren, Lauren Sutliff (Joel), Michelle, Holly Spease, Chelsea Johnson (Thad) and Sam Spinello (Jackie); his great grandchildren, Parker, Sophia Johnson, Connor and Elsie Sutliff; and his sisters-in-law, Lucille Duerst, Dianne Edgell and Jane Baer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
