He was predeceased by: his mother-in-law Juanita; and his grandfather Andrew. He is survived by: his parents, Manuel Mendez and Lydia Mendez-Rodriguez (Campos); his wife Juanita Mendez; his children, Matthew (Dary), Darius (Jennifer) and Papi; his grandchildren, Romeo, Alessandra and Miliano; his siblings, Victoria (Deontae), Manuel (Margarita) and Tristan; his siblings-in-law, Jaime (Roselia), Ramon (Sandra), Joe (Thelma) and Maria; his grandparents, Beatrice, Jesse and Jolyn; his close friends, Gilberto and Omar; and his pet Junie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in Marco's memory.
