She was predeceased by: her parents, Annie Hill and Cliffton Hill; her husband Johnny L. Avery; her son Maurice Hill; and her brothers, Jessie Hill and Sherman Scruggs.

She is survived by: her children, Annie Lundgren, Annette Hill, Susie Hill, Yolanda Stephens, Donna Avery and John Hill; her grandson Antwon Hill; and her siblings, Alberta Evans (William), Ollie Porter (Kenneth), Cleveland Scruggs, Aaron Scruggs (Yvonne) and Alvin Scruggs (Rosemary). She is also survived by 31 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
