He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard F. Gerdeman and Rosemary Gerdeman (Schimpf); his daughter Kristin Marie; his brother David Gerdeman; and his stepmother Florence Bozeman.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Gerdeman (Colgrove); his children, Kelly J. Witt (Kenneth) and Richard F. Gerdeman III (Katya); his grandchildren, Skyler and Patrick Gerdeman; and his sisters, Nancy, Kathy, Betty and Wendy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
