We announce the death of Rita Josephine Cooling Zant (Rockford, Illinois), who passed away on June 12, 2026, at the age of 84. Rita will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Cooling and Frances Cooling (Pavone); and her brothers, Philip and Peter. She is survived by: her children, Kathryn (Mark) of Denton, James (Lesley) of Roscoe and Michael of Loves Park, Illinois; her grandchildren, Maximilian Clavelli of Winona and Claire Ryan of Denton, Texas; and her siblings, Kathleen, Agnes, Barbara, Ann, Margaret, Christopher, Eugene and Timothy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
