He is survived by: his children, Leticia Smith, Vernon Smith, Idalia Sanchez and Nicolas Sanchez; his grandchildren, Trinadad, Sontino, Tepo and Christopher; and his sisters, Esmy Ortiz and Diana Guerrero. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
