He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, William R. Coon and Joyce "Peggy" Coon (Sarver); his wife Rose A. Gilbert; his children, Misty Lego, William Coon and Joseph Coon (Christina); his brother Ronnie Coon; his half-brother Mike Perkins (Mary); and his aunt Irene Coon (Robert "Bobby").

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fred C. Olson Chapel (1001 2nd Ave, Rockford, IL 61104). A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Lower York Cemetery.
