He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Poplawski and Margaret Poplawski (Janick); his stepfather Virgil Clark; and his siblings, Louise Poplawski, Eugene Poplawski, Lorraine Ramthun, Wayne Poplawski, Theodore Poplawski and Robert Schultz (Bob).

He is survived by: his wife Sonja Judith Renee Hestekind; his children, Kim Gottfredsen (Rod), Kris Mandley (Keith), Jeffrey Poplawski (Tammy), Julie Powell (Dan) and Jennifer Opheim (Kimball); his brother Stanley Poplawski (Carla); and his friend Larry Truckenbrod. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
