He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gibson and Virginia Gibson (Smith); and his former wife Penny Meyer. He is survived by: his wife Polly; his children, Tadd Gibson (Anna) and Troy Gibson (Kelly); his stepchildren, Heidi Bovi (Ryan Vanden Huevel), Joseph Bovi (Amy) and Nick Bovi (Alissa); his grandchildren, Taylor Gibson (Nick Wallace), Collin Gibson, Addison Gibson, Avery Gibson, Braden Jones, Cassidy Jones, Elliot Bovi, Jonah Bovi, Cece Bovi and Nico Bovi; and his brother Jerry Gibson (Naomi).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Grace Funeral & Cremation Services (4301 N Main St, Rockford, IL 61103). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
