He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Oates and Betty Jane Oates (Kelley); and his siblings, William Oates, Diane Caples and Janet Russo.
He is survived by: his wife Kelly Nichols; his children, Chad Oates (Christine) and Erin Onorato (Daniel); his grandchildren, Callie, Camden, Charlotte, Jackson and Lainey; and his siblings, Candace Dyhr, Elizabeth Nass, Jim Oates and Carol Lewis (Jeff). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Central Christian Church (2460 Milwaukee Rd, Beloit, WI 53511). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Judes or Tunnels to Towers.
