It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Viola Davis of Roodhouse, Illinois, who passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Viola Davis to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Iva Matlida Olgalvie Jessie and John Jacinto Jessie (Jacinto); her siblings, Paul Jessie (Jessie), Harry Jessie, Iva Jessie Fernandez, John Jessie, Oscar Jessie, Frank Jessie, Cora Widsom and Perry Jessie; and her grandson Mark Cummings.
She is survived by: her husband Bill Davis; her children, Renita Norris of Jacksonville, Lynn Cummings (Dan) of Lewisville and Harry Jennings (Jenn) of South Jacksonville; her stepchildren, Tonya Ross (Terry) of Roodhouse, Andy Davis (Brandie) of Pittsfield and Eric Davis (Melissa Hoesman) of Whitehall, Illinois.; her grandchildren, Josh Jennings (Karrie Scott), Tiffany (Nathan Allen) of Jacksonville, Phil Cummings (Amy) of Carrollton and Drew Cummings (Hannah) of Frisco, Texas.; her great grandchildren, Zach Jennings, Kole Jennings, Lukas Cummings, Logan Cummings, Marlow Cummings, Natalie Allen, Carter Allen, Teagan, Tessa, Tripp, Teddy Willeford, Gabe, Rachael Ference, Quentin Willeford, Coulson Willeford, Nolan, Warren Jackson, Amelia and Eleanor Bowen; and her sister Edith Byus.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Williamson Funeral Home (1405 Lincoln Ave, Jacksonville, IL 62650).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a memorial bench which will be placed on the walking trail near the lake spot she spent many of her summer days.
