He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Edie and Esther Edie (Wood); and his siblings, Chuck Edie, Bob Edie and Muriel Kozman.
He is survived by: his wife Jean; his stepchildren, Laura Day (Alan) and Nic Adami (Kellie); and his grandchildren, Matthew, Luca, Rhonda Reuter, Glen Edie, Kim Choin (Leon), David Kozman (Lavonne), Kristin Pruitt (Bob), Karen Downey and Kate Kozman.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Roscoe United Methodist Church (10816 Main St, Roscoe, IL 61073). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy or the National Audubon Society, organizations that reflect John's lifelong love of nature and the outdoors.
