He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosendo and Juanita; and his brother Rosendo Jr. (Diana). He is survived by: his wife Sophia; his children, Ruben Jr. (Kelli Gregory), Gilberto (Yvette), Juan (Christina), Daniel, Lauren (Alex Perez) and Megan Sanders (Frank); and his siblings, Rene Reyna (Maria) and Rosalinda Zavela (Jose). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
